2012 Fiat 500C

2012 Fiat 500C Cabrio

I'm sure most of you have seen this 'overpriced go-kart' driving around lately, as they have recently become a huge hit here in the U.S. Oh, and we can't forget J.Lo's "fantastic" commercial featuring her new song and the new Fiat. (In case you can't tell that last sentence was DRIPPING with sarcasm.) To feature a woman who hasn't been relevant in years, who's also 42 in a commercial with a target market of 18-24 makes no sense to me.

Now before I get to my bashing/venting session, I will give one nice compliment. The front end, although simple, is decent. I like the use of round lights, I appreciate the simplicity in allowing a headlight to do its purpose and keep it simple. I think it fits in well with the simplicity and 'littleness' if you will, of the car. Fiat's use of chrome here is also modest and needed. There's no chrome around the headlights, turn signals, fog lights, blah blah blah. Basically what I'm trying to say is the chrome is tasteful and I recognize that. Basically what I am saying is at least it doesn't look like this...

But back to the go-kart...

2012 Fiat 500C Cabrio

The Fiat 500C has take two things I despise and cram them into a tiny tiny tiny package. A cramp, cheap looking, and feeling car; and a rag top. There is absolutely nothing about the picture above that is appealing, it  looks like someone took my shower curtain and used it as a make shift roof.

Now when the rag top is up, it is not QUITE as bad, oh wait, yes it is. Look at how ugly that is, white body paint, with a deep red roof? No sense in that, no sense at all.

The other thing that blows my mind about this car is if you look closely at the Fiat on the left, above the crappy red rag top you'll see two head rests, and clearly in front of them is a third (the drivers). FOUR PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO FIT IN THIS CAR?! HAHAHAHAHAHA Yeah right Fiat, either Italians dont mind sitting Indian style in the back seats, or this car is only meant for paraplegic amputees. Because there is NO way anyone taller than 4'2" aka. a 10 year old, can fit in that back seat. Nice try though Fiat, nice try.

Aside from all of this, the Fiat 500's interior is absolutely horrific, everything looks as if it should have a 'Made in China' gold sticker on it. The red dash is disgusting, and even worse is the below picture with red leather, and white dash and steering wheel, ewe.

Aside from that, the speedometer, tachometer, and odometer combo. WHAT? I would get so confused staring at this cluster while driving, call me stupid, but this is just TOO much in one place. The dash clearly has room for three separate dials. Absolutely no need to cram them all onto one.

And for the record, yes I do know this exists, I cannot decide my feelings on it though. That will be for a later date.

Thanks for reading!
